Why is citing your sources a key feature of academic writing? How does this convention strengthen your writing?

Citing sources is important in academic writing as it shows the reader that proper research was done. It is also a responsible and respectable thing to do in giving credit to the rightful owner or creator of the words used within ones’ paper. To not do so is outright plagiarism. Any time a person conducts research and/or writes a paper as a result of, any information used that was not originally derived from oneself, needs to be referenced. Consider it a sort of academic courtesy.

Taking into consideration all that was just mentioned above, citing all references from which information was used in ones’ research paper or essay, will strengthen writing by making it much more credible and that gaining more respect.
