Baseball Canada Level Four (4) National Certification aspires must be recommended for advancement by the provincial supervision committee, shall have been certified and registered for five previous years and shall currently be a Level Three umpire, and lastly must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

After being identified as a candidate for the national program, and under the assumption that the above criteria has been met, aspires shall write the Baseball Canada Level 4 National examination. Successful candidates shall attend the minimum passing mark of 86%.

Nationally certified umpires must both write the Baseball Canada National Examination every year, and in addition shall attend BNSUD's super clinic yearly. Failure to write the exam yearly will result in removal from the national program.

National Assignments

After receiving national certification umpires will be eligible for, but not guaranteed, a national assignment. Often the number of positions for national assignments is far less than the number of certified umpires. As such, nationally certified numbers may not receive consecutive national assignments.
