My Favourite VideoGames

Ever since my childhood, my love for games has been unwavering. Initially, it was my competitive drive that drew me to person versus person games, as they provided an outlet for my competitive nature. Since my parents were often busy and I was a diligent student, on unpleasant days when I couldn't be with my friends, I found solace in the fantasy world of interactive games. It started with 2 games; Minecraft a sandbox game that allows players to explore and create in an open world game using a world made up of blocks. This was the start of itching my creative side, as you would explore the world gather resources to survive, build creative structures and engage in various activities. Additionally, I started playing rather young, the Call of Duty franchise. This is a first-person shooter person versus person game I would often play with friends in my free time. As I grew older, my interest in games expanded, and I began to perceive them as more than just a means for creative expression. They became a form of media that told captivating long-form stories while allowing for personal creativity to flourish.

Among my favorite games since then, there are numerous titles that have captured my attention. Here are a few examples that highlight why they hold a special place for me:

Ghost of Tsuchima: I find history to be exciting, and even when some of this history is exaggerated in Hollywood media or games, they can provide with rich stories – and entirely new lines of thinking. This game takes place in feudal Japan during the late 13th century and follows a Samurai warrior who embarks on a quest to protect his homeland from Mongol invaders. It’s an open world epic that on top of being a phenomenal gaming experience where you employ the skills of a Samurai Warrior in intense action sequences and an entirely beautiful world; it touches on themes of honor, sacrifice, identity and the blurred lines between justice and vengeance.

S The Legenda of Zelda Breath of the Wild has a special place in my heart. Being the first open world Zelda game, it takes place in a world with many diverse landscapes and towering mountains. Endlessly explorable and as non-linear a game as you could play on top of a physics engine so powerful within the game; it will have you expanding your problem-solving skills using real world physics. This game truly takes my experience to the next level and if you have a chance to play it I would highly recommend it. I am highly awaiting the sequel.

Another game that is near and dear is It takes two.It takes two is a cooperative action adventure videogame that revolves around a couple on the brink of divorce who find themselves magically transformed into dolls embarking on a fascinating journey in which they attempt to mend their broken relationship. I played this game with a significant other and it heavily relies on communication, problem solving, and working together to overcome challenges. An engaging game with a low skill difficulty but nevertheless an enticing story that worked great for date night.
