An article of interest to students of urban anthropology (Anthropology 394) appeared in the G and M on Saturday, June 17,2017. Robert Muggah, co-founder of the Igarape Institute and SecDev Group and chair of the consultative committee of the Global Parliament of Mayors, authored a thoughtful article on the importance of cities and their future role in world affairs. He posits that cities are key to surmounting our biggest challenges. He further suggests that the struggle for equality, justice and sustainable development will take place in our cities and must involve urban dwellers from around the world.
