The Knowe of Swandro is an archaeological site on the Orkney island of Rousay which is being destroyed by coastal erosion related to global warming and rising sea levels.  The site includes a 5000 year old Neolithic chambered tomb, Iron Age round houses, Pictish buildings, a Viking settlement and Norse long hall.  The Swandro Orkney Coastal Archaeology Trust has been conducting excavations at this site largely financed by public donations.  They have recently announced the 2019 fieldseason and are seeking individuals interested in volunteering in the ongoing excavations.
