This is just so amazing! https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidanderson/2019/04/30/unreal-archaeology-how-the-ancient-world-is-being-recreated-in-virtual-reality/?fbclid=IwAR1-qqW-VrS9AJo1xymTLCIIx_fvV3N1YHkuV2ViToepiocNSPqBUdjQBdQ#c2581d01c690

We have been creating 3D models of our excavations in Belize using our iPhones, as well as 3D models of artifacts using laser scanners and photogrammetry. You can see some examples at https://sketchfab.com/meaghanp

If there are any students/faculty/staff out there who have backgrounds in VR/gaming development, and have an interest in archaeology, let me know. A virtual tour of our archaeological site in Belize will be a future step--great MA project!! We are currently developing an augmented reality tour, but really want to get into VR development.
