Minor update - Windows tablets using IE should now be able to use the site menu

Though we had previously dealt with a wide range of peculiarities in Internet Explorer, some users of touch-screen versions of Windows 8.1 who did not have the latest app store version of Microsoft's quirky web browser installed or a mouse/trackpad were, until today, unable to make full use of the site menus. These should now be working as you would expect. Other browsers running under Windows and other operating systems were and still should be working fine.

Whatever browser you choose to use, always try to make sure that you are using one that is as up-to-date as possible with all security patches applied.  The site has been tested with Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera, in mobile and desktop versions, as well as several versions of Internet Explorer and Konqueror. Other standards-compliant browsers should also work.

For those that are interested, this is roughly the breakdown of popularity of browsers used to access this site over the last month:

Google Chrome: 33.5%

Mozilla Firefox: 24%

Apple Safari (including iPhones and iPads): 13.3%

Microsoft Internet Explorer: 7.3%

Mozilla: 4.8%

The remainder covers a broad spectrum of phone browsers, Linux browsers and one or two very ancient desktop browsers, as well as 15.1% of unknown software accessing the site - likely these are mostly attempted spammers or badly-behaved search bots. The proportions vary month on month but this is fairly typical.

If you come across any parts of the site that do not work using your preferred browser, please tell us about it! If all else fails and you cannot access the site at all, email landing@athabascau.ca
