Students receive a great deal of feedback on a variety of metrics (tests, assignments) and from a variety of sources (peer review, instructor evaluation) for a variety of reasons (e.g. appreciation, coaching). However their ability to process that feedback may lessen the impact of that feedback on their future performance. The article talks about three different types of feedback: appreciation, coaching, and evaluation. And about how students can be taught to productively reflect on each type of feedback they receive.
