Why parents help their children lie to Facebook about age: Unintended consequences of the "Children's Online Privacy Act"

A scholarly article examining the fact that not only do children join Facebook despite its age restriction of 13 but that they are aware of it and actively participate in the joining process. Probably not a lot of surprises in this article except that many parents do not even realize that the age restriction is there because of COPPA.
