The Landing's toolset is very flexible indeed and there are many overlaps in functionality between its tools, so it can often be hard to choose between the available tools when you are sharing something. This is one of the reasons it can feel confusing at times especially as, at different times and in different contexts, the same tools may be used for different purposes and different tools may be used for the same purposes.
From Adelaide University, this is a very clear and succinct explanation of typical differences between discussion forums, blogs and wikis when used in a learning context. None have to be used in the manner suggested but the distinctions are nicely explained and this is a good starting point for helping to make sense of the toolset.
