This 2011 report on the state of post-secondary education in Canada includes a discussion on the participation rates of people with disabilities. The report found that 16.1% of youth between the ages of 16-24 abandon their education because of their impairment and 28% had to reduce their course load. About 19.7% of youth with disabilities aged 15-24 have experienced long school interruptions because of their disability. Students with disabilities also face greater educational and other expenses than the general population.
