Hmm, there is no better article to kickstart this group activity (or maybe there is? ;). It's well known that OSX runs on BSD and it's got a lot of open source tools under the hood but with Microsoft open sourcing ASP.NET MVC, Web API, and Web Pages (Razor) and moving into Android world the open source movement is about to take an interesting turn...
