Apple announced a new feature for iOS called ResearchKit, which is a new API that will allow application developers to create applications for helping medical research expand and help more people who suffer with hard to treat diseases.
Apple has worked with a large number of top-notch universities and research facilities to create ResearchKit so that they can obtain data from consumers that are willing to provide information on a disease based on their own actions.
