I actually found this much easier than assignment 2. The poem of the day program may be the program that takes the least anount of time to complete in the course. Adding markers to the text file and using regex to read between the markers for each poem kept the regex construction simple, then using and if/else to retrrieve the proper poem was equally straighforward.
As for RMI, there is no shortage of YouTube tutorials on this topic. The difference in quality between tutorials I found was purely in video production, not content. As long as you get the Learning Object from the COMP348 Landing page, you'll be fine. Follow the tutorials listed in the learning object (and take your time to digest the info), use the supplied batch and policy files included with the learning object, and this should be relatively smooth sailing. Takes a fair bit longer to complete than the poem program, but the satisfaction level upon successful completion is also much higher. Since I've been doing Assignments 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously, I can say that RMI has been (so far) the most fun to work on. I found the structure of the files and methodology a little daunting at first, but once I got through the tutorials everything made perfect sense.
