Assignment 3 Reflections
The storyboard took the most time to complete as I am not great at drawing, so it was a slow process for me. However, I realizes as I worked through the storyboard that it was not just about creating visuals but really understanding the flow of my system and how users would interact with it. As I started drawing, I realized I needed to make some changes to how my system asked for and accepted changes to the member preferences and to the reservation itself. These adjustments were necessary to make the system easier to navigate. What I originally thought was a solid design ended up needing a lot more refinement once I started visualizing it through the storyboard.
It also took me a while to figure out which inputs and outputs to include in my system. At first, I didn’t include enough. After going back over both lists, I added to them. This helped clarify what was truly important for the user experience and showed the flow of information from inputs to outputs. Doing this assignment really helped me solidify the difference between analysis and design. I know understand that analysis is more about figuring out the problem and requirements, while design is about coming up with the solution and figuring out how it will all work together.
Storyboarding allowed me to fine-tune my system and was a great reminder of how essential planning is when designing any kind of system. If forced me to think critically about each step of the user’s journey and how the system should respond. This process also made it clear how beneficial storyboarding is, even if it’s not a skill I’m naturally good at. Ultimately, it highlighted the importance of visualizing designs to catch potential issues early on, helping me avoid mistakes later.
