Finally, onto the last assignment. This one was probably one of the less stressful of what I consider the big three of assignments for this class (2, 4,5). Although it was less difficult and stressful I also found it very confusing compared to prior knowledge when it comes to the process of normalization. The way the textbook has it formatted is nothing close to the process and how it was done in my database management course from the previous semester, although this was taken at a different institution so that may be some of the issue.
For this assignment I decided to tackle it a little differently then the rest. I am at the point in this course where I get to with most classes and I just want to hit the finish line and be done. This usually means my motivation to continue working on the class assignments is at an all time low. Instead of working section by section in long sessions decided that skipping around and doing short pieces little by little every day was a better option to stop the burn out. This meant the assignment probably took two to three times longer, but it didn’t hurt me on the inside to make it to the end.
Once again as well when things were unclear and difficult I turned to the message boards for assistance. I can’t stress enough how helpful of a resource this actually is and how much clarification you can get from other peoples struggles. It really is best to learn from mistakes and it is even better to learn from the mistakes of others to stop yourself from falling into the same traps and pit falls that they themselves fell into.
The textbook of course is the main source to use for this assignment and though it might be a bit vague a confusing on how to transfer the knowledge from textbook to car share it can really help get the ball rolling on what you need to do and what methods and stepping stones you can use to produce the results that are best for the task at hand.
After reaching the end of this assignment the amount of relief that I feel is incredible. It has been a long few months reading the text and struggling with the subject material but it feels even better knowing the struggles are at an end and really have set me up for success for the rest of my year diploma. Thank you for a great five assignments. Only the final left to take care of.
