Students enrolled in Anthropology 272: Introduction to Archaeology-    please note that  a recent article in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix  relates to Chapter 15 in Archaeology: Theories, Methods, and Practice by Colin Renfrew and Paul Bahn.   The article outlines the restoration efforts by UNESCO  in the city of Timbuktu, one of the hundreds of World Heritage Sites.  Islamic radicals overran Timbuktu in 2002 and destroyed 14 of the 16 mausoleums.  The subsequent  reconstruction took more than a year.
