A recent article in the Globe and Mail looks at the impacts on cities of rising sea levels, epic droughts and massive flooding fostered by global warming.  The article outlines adaptive strategies that may be initiated and argues that these will only be successful if we abandon our current  "management by disaster strategy" and begin responding and planning immediately.  This article may be of particular interest to students enrolled in Anthropology 394: Urban Anthropology.

Changes in the climate are so subtle and slight that most people won't even notice them. in our lives the average joe will carry on his wasteful ways like roaring around in his  co2 spewing good old boy pick up and having the heat in his cave set to max even when he's not home. Nothing will change until it's too late.

Matthew,  I fear that you are correct.
