I swear I went to panels and heard papers, many of which were fascinating. Um, but the only evidence I have of this are a couple of unflattering pictures of me delivering my own paper from this morning. Since Mark took them on my camera, and the SD card was malfunctioning, they will remain on the camera's internal memory and never actually see the light of day.
What I do have are pictures of llamas. And some geese and a rooster. I've been trying to get to the llama park -- and btw, did you know Waterloo has an effing LLAMA PARK?!?!? How did I not know that before now? -- all week, and convinced Mark to walk there with me after the copyright panel. I almost feel a bit guilty about it because I know I'm supposed to get more out of the panels and meetings with research contacts and various torture networking and social events, but then I had ice cream and looked at some llamas and that pretty much out-awesomed everything else.
First there were geese and baby geese with itty bitty little wings, hopping over train tracks.
Then Mark scared the llama away. (No idea what the llama had against Mark -- or maybe his ipad, which was pointed at the llama acting as camera -- but it didn't want to hang out with him.)
Also there was a rooster (and some very pretty, fluffy chickens).
And then more llamas, who were a little friendlier, including a nursing baby llama.
So. That was the Waterloo llama park. And speaking of unflattering pictures, we did snap one in the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives, after our tour. (If Mark looks a bit severe, then it might have something to do with the day being way too hot, the CLGA gallery being without AC, and the fact that he had just gotten off a plane.)

LLAMAS! I LLOVE LLOVE LLOVE IT! Three cheers for pictures. Hope the presentation went well too, even if the pictures from that are repressed :)
I can guarantee readers that you did work on the Saturday, despite the heat at CLGA. I want to blame the hundreds of visitors to Doors Open -- and the doors certainly were open.

Thanks for vouching for me, Alan! I should have made a point of taking more photos of the CLGA space. The folks who came for Doors Open made a good choice, even if they did mess up the air conditioning (and totally missed out because Mark and I got the best tour guide). It's a really cool space, literally packed with queer history and producing more every second, and one that most of the public doesn't get to spend much time in.
Maybe I'll kill two birds with one stone -- making up for the lack of photos and giving the impression that I actually do research work every now and then -- and take a better set of photos next week.
I came home to small furry beasts who want me to know that I should Never. Leave. Again. They are not impressed with photographs; llamas are not a good enough reason to spend half a week elsewhere. (But my pet sitter was awesome and played with Patitas in the bathtub because that's his current favourite place to play. He says he was miserable, but I know she spoiled him.)
