Students taking the course Ancient Cultures of North American will find this of interest. This article is based on the recent research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Researchers in Alaska have found the earliest evidence for salmon as a food source in North America.

    Vandy,

Great article!  While nowhere as old as the Alaskan site, the  Narrows Site in Waterton Lakes National Park has lots of stone netsinkers in deposits that also yielded Lusk projectile points.  The latter are not radiocarbon dated at The Narrows but they are found in   Late Early Prehistoric Period  contexts at Wyoming sites.  It is good to see that the time depth is so early for fishing in the interior of North America.
