It is time to start thinking about summer field school opportunities in Anthropology. Although AU Anthropology does not currently offer field courses, we can recommend a number of options through other academic institutions, along with the possibility of AU transfer credit if you are an AU program student.
If you visit most Anthropology department websites, you can find a listing of their upcoming programs. In the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary, a number of field schools are offered focused on archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural studies, etc.
AU's Dr. Hugh Notman runs the Belize Primatology Field School, and the information session for this opportunity is coming up next week.
AU's Dr. Meaghan Peuramaki-Brown is a field director for the Yaxnohcah Archaeological Project in Campeche, Mexico, which hosts the Maya Archaeology and Ecology: Cultural Heritage Field Program. Information sessions for this program will be announced shortly, or you can contact Dr. Kathryn Reese-Taylor (project director) for more information at kreeseta@ucalgary.ca.
