Unit 3 started out to be a bit too overwhelming because I was expecting to accomplish a lot in little time. I started off with learning how to use CSS. It was difficult for me to get a grasp of in the amount of time given to be spent on each unit. However, I used all the resource provided in Unit 3 ‘resource section’ as well as Khan Academy to get a grasp of it. Since, my abilities of being a CSS programmer is only of a beginner I decided to use a template on Template OS ( www.os-templates.com). I feel it was the right decision to do so as the expectation of the school I am creating the website is quite high and the template format gave me a excellent opportunity to play around with the codes to obtain the right fit. However, I had to be extremely careful in giving credits and meeting the license requirements of the free template I used and it is still work in progress.
The website design is essential in meeting the needs of my persona. The website needs to be both user-friendly as well as interactive to keep my personas interacted enough with the website to gain the information they require or help the school attract the business they need.
Overall the learning outcome results were great. I was able to gain the CSS knowledge I needed to acquire through a more hands on approach which meant more time spent on trial-error.
If I had a chance to do things differently then I would definitely have tried and spent less time on this unit by lessening the scope of the website.
Thanks,
