Global Village not!

Marshall McLuhan's "Global Village" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_village, is looking a lot more tribal in the digital world. There was region encoded discs (i.e., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code ), and history repeated itself with streaming media:

Even government sponsored websites are not immune to digital walls.
However, McLuhan's idea of walking backwards into the future continues to be relevant to the digital age.
