As an MDDE student is it possible to download the full report? It appears that Athabasca is a member organization to the database/site housing this report.

(Jo Ann here and I thought I would comment.) When I was reading -- Terry stated that he could access it but not pass it on to others -- like us. This is something he wishes to do -- and hopefully it will appear on the Net in the future -- or we can get a copy somehow. This issue of lack of access slows down the distribution of information -- yet seems to be "justified" on the basis of covering costs. There is no free ride; should there be sharing however. Jo Ann
Hi Terry and 610 Class,
I really liked Terry's blogs and his article in our readings, "Distance learning --Social software's killer ap?" This article discusses how the Elgg got to be the choice of social software for AU and brings forward many current issues about how social presence is an important , but developing part of distance education. I particularly noted that student modelling and particular their profiles can help other students develop a socially relevant network for the purpose of social capital and learning. I like the protective quality and interest focus that can be developed on a "choice" oriented and protected site.

The access to this Observatory funded project is very contentious. I talked to Scott Leslie (author of the report) and he says he will never do another report like this that is held behind closed doors. But as Jo Ann noted someone has to pay for the 'lunch'.
In any case, I will make a decision that since this is a system restricted to AU staff or students, that we are all able to access the Observatory reports. The AU password is 2hjnm7 - please feel free to download this and other reports, but please do not share or post this password.
