I am so excited about this.
But it falls before the deadline for the GSRF and the notice is too short for the Access to Research Tools award. So the question is: how do I get AU to foot the bill for it as a research trip?

I put a lot of extra work into building relationships beyond the required ones for just getting a degree or taking a research course, but those relationships do come in very handy when I need access to a community (and material support for research) beyond AU.
I may have found my workaround. My editor at a lefty news outlet is going to try to get me free tickets and a story assignment to cover travel costs. It's not as convenient as it would be to live in a magical world where AU covers all my research costs, no questions asked or deadlines imposed, but it doesn't involve hours of work proposing things, and I might not have to have to pay for it myself.
