My Appliance Shortlist:
Netezza vs. Teradata

Exadata (im not impressed by oracle for DW...so im skeptical about exadata...especially if the appliance targets both transactional and analytical)

S/W:
DataStage vs. Informatica for ETL

For high volume, Ab Initio

Tools for the business SAS

Im shocked that SAS didnt get much mention in that article

I see Microsoft as a toy player in that market. good for SMB and people without strong knowledge (point n click)

Very cool article. I have to say I am biased towards EMC. Out of the big data scope and more into virtualization they are quite innovative. They purchase VMware stock back in the day when IBM was a venture capital company and they partnered with Vmware and Cisco to create a company called VCE to provided virtualization solutions for servers and networking using EMC storage.
