A critical concept of practicing counselling is the impact of ethics and the responsibility that counsellors carry in regard to their clients. Chapters two and three discuss the importance of values, confidentiality and building relationships between the counsellor and client. The link provided directs you to the Code of Ethics document provided by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. This document offers free access and an in depth overview of the importance of ethics in the field of psychology and counselling.

Hello Medison,
Thanks for sharing this resource! Ethics is an important part of counselling. It ensures we protect the public and ourselves during service delivery. The resource you shared is for Canadian Certified Counsellors. I think it is a handy document to have if we are working as Canadian Certified Counsellors. In addition, different regulatory bodies usually provide their own ethical guidelines to their members, I would recommend professionals follow the recommendations and requirements of their own regulatory body to ensure they are ethically competent.
