Public Archaeology Program at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site

Invisible History, A Public Archaeology Program is taking place at the Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site for its second year. Renowned archaeologists, Dr. Peter Francis and Jack Porter, will be leading a hands-on excavation dig for public participants. The dig is being sponsored by the Confluence Heritage Society, a non-profit organization, for several sessions throughout the month of August 2015. The Confluence Heritage Society is requesting that the Archaeology Society of Alberta display our poster and provide information your website to promote the dig to individuals that are passionate about archaeology.

Participants have the chance to actively contribute to the recovery of artifacts during the dig. The artifacts are gathered for archaeological purposes, which will further the knowledge and understanding of Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site.

A full three-day dig is running from August 11 to 13, costing $250.00 per person. Half day sessions are also offered; either 10am-12 or 2pm-4pm. The half day sessions are taking place on August 15 and 16 for the cost of $50.00 per person. Food is provided for the three day session, but accommodation is not included.
