Interestingly, after I had completed the web based training example in 2009, I had the opportunity to make a brief presentation to some of the management staff in Kitchener Utilities and the City's Information Technology Division. Overview to City of Kitchener Staff Unfortunately due to other corporate priorities I have not had the chance to pursue full implementation of this concept.

What is the Course About? 

This course is about drinking water quality sampling procedures and taking the appropriate actions in response to an adverse water quality result in a municipal water distribution system. This course will reinforce certain concepts about the need for the consistent application of these procedures. Overall it will help the learner achieve better consistency and making their job easier.

The learning goals of this course are to assist water utility operators understand concepts related to drinking water quality parameters specified in the Ontario drinking water regulations, such as Ontario Regulation 170/03; consistently apply the water utility’s procedures associated with water quality sampling; and the appropriate response is taken based upon the sampling results.

There are three (3) goals for this course:

1. Value the importance of protecting public health and welfare associated with the provision of drinking water,

2. Apply the procedures to sample drinking water in a consistent manner,

3. Implement the procedures to respond to adverse drinking water quality results.
