4. How to record Skype calls for FREE?
   Web page demonstrates the use of Sunflower (open-source) and the LineIn (freeware) with Garageband (Apple) to record Skype audio.  This tutorial is also applicable to Audacity.   Replace the "For Garageband" section with choose Audacity Preferences > Audio I/O > Recording > Device: Soundflower (2ch).   Playback device is your normal audio output (NOT Soundflower).   You will likely find that the level of audio from the host Skype caller will be lower than the contact audio.  To fix this you will need the Levelator.  (note: maximizing the microphone input level may not have any effect)

Suggested Method

1. Record Skype call with free or commercial addon.
2. Configure recording addon to save to WAV (if not an option then save to OGG, or MP3 highest bit rate).
3. Open saved recording in Audacity for editing (any good audio editor will work i.e., Adobe Audition).
4. Drop edited WAV file into The Levelator for post processing of sound level.  (This operation can be done before step 3 if preferred).

SKYPE Recording Freeware:

1. Audacity
   Records and edits audio. The LAME library is required for conversion to MP3 format
2. Audion 3
   A free audio recorder, MP3 encoder, and player that was originally commercialware. It is a rudimentary MP3 editor that has been superceded by Audacity. Available for new and older MAC's {Free Registration Key}
3. Audio Routing Utilities
   Useful for redirecting audio channels to different applications (i.e., Skype to Audacity or Garageband)
   Recommended for advanced endusers only
   1. Jack OSX
      (use with any MAC audio application)
   2. LineIn
      (use with any MAC audio application as "pass thru" from input devices)
   3. Sunflower
      (use with any MAC audio application including Audio Hijack Pro)
4. The Levelator
   This utility will auto-level sound files that are in WAV or AIFF format
