This is not a typical blog post for me, but I am really moved by what this unique individual has set out to do. I share with him a love of the natural wildlife surrounding us out her in northwest BC, and hope those wanting to tear a hole in the coastal rainforest area with huge tankers might want to reconsider their decision. It is a special place, among some the last remaining relatively untouched regions in the world where the wilderness is deeply respected by those who have lived here for thousands of years.
I met the man doing this while staying with my wife a few weekends back in Hartley Bay, BC., a small remote fishing village. He has decided to do the trek solo, standing the entire time on a paddleboard, to raise awareness about the need to protect the northern coast from the tankers.
The Elders speak openly to Norm about his campaign as he set out from Hartley Bay on a 12 hour journey.
