I like this quote very much.

"Internalizing new ideas until they are almost intuitive, it turns out, is a key component of learning. But unpacking these ideas for novice learners, laying out every concealed gear and spring, is a key component of teaching. It is in this unpacking of ideas where many experts fail." -by Kunal Chawla

In online environment, it seems easy to provide students with learning materials and assignments, and then mark for credits. Yet, it also seems easy to miss the key point when designing our courses, that is how to best promote internalizing new ideas in students' learning and unpacking those ideas in instructors' teaching.

Thank you for this Hongxin. A wonderful quote and thoughtful words from you. This is very much connected with Moore's Theory of Transactional Distance and herein lies the challenge, to assist students in the internalizing of new ideas within an DE context.
