Why are female doctors introduced by first name while men are called 'Doctor'?.

Here's the original journalistic article we talked about last night.

Neumann, J. (2017). Why are female doctors introduced by first name while men are called 'Doctor'?. Washingtonpost.com.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/why-are-female-doctors-introduced-by-first-name-while-men-are-called-doctor/2017/06/23/b790ddf2-4572-11e7-a196-a1bb629f64cb_story.html?utm_term=.1bfddaf7c8f7

My etiquette note to myself... remember to not drop "Dr." when introducing a woman with a doctorate.

Cheers,

Peggy Lynn

  • Interesting read Peggy Lynn. I wonder if it is more common in the U.S. As 'Dr' Conrad and I mentioned last night, we have never experienced this, but I do very little work in The States.

  • Hello Peggy Lynn,

Thanks for sharing the article and such an interesting dilemma which reflects an abundance of outdated social norms. Also, thanks for handling the session when the technology was glitching out.
