I have been researching podcasting lately and I think it would be a great idea if the MDDE program had a podcast to explore DE topics from the students`perspective. I know CIDER does sessions and they are great but many are long and a shorter audio podcast dealing with current issues that MDDE students want to explore could be valuable. What do you think?

Hi Thomas
Great idea!!! It might also build a better sense of community among CDE students. Maybe you can do the first one as an exemplar???
Also thanks for your continuing use of Me2U. It is a slow battle gettign critical mass, but I hope one we are winning!

Hi Thomas and Terry,
I think that it would be great Thomas if you start with the podcast for DE interests here. I'm not sure what that might mean -- time-wise. What do you think? Jo Ann
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for getting back to me on the time it takes to do the podcast. I think it is important to see if someone at AU can give you the information about Skype, regarding the music on a podcast.
I think podcasts are great, but either carefully placed or single items. If these become part of existing pieces, it will only multiply the layers. I also find when students are inundated with various "spots" this creates a sense of confusion.
I also think we raise the bar for those folks who have minimal technical access in the CDE programs. For example, if 20% of these folks are in areas chronically affected by technical disturbances then the school is at threat of ignoring these important people...
Nonetheless, I think experimenting is very important and I feel that as long as it's carried out responsibly will prove helpful to our students.
Litsa,
You have an interesting perspective on my proposal, but I have to admit to a technological bias. I think podcasting can be a very effective learning tool and though I am careful about using technology that does not disadvantage learners I can't see how it can do so with students in the our program. Afterall, they are supposed to be studying how technologies can best be employed to create an effective and efficient learning opportunity at a distance. How can you not consider podcasting?
