I am trying out VoiceThread to explore the use of it as an activity in distance and traditional education.
Here is the link: VoiceThread on Alternative Assessment using Technology
I have also embedded the video but please visit the link and make a comment.

I used my Flip Ultra Video Camera to record the video. Very cool!

Hi Thomas...I visited the link and left this comment, thanks for this!
Hi Thomas, I think this could be a great tool for teachers to assess students and leave feedback - it could also be an interesting discussion tool for brief postings, although I still like to be able to read an entire posting and often re-read parts for clarity or to make sure I understood correctly. I would be interested to see whether I would "get it" more quickly if I saw a video and heard a person speaking as opposed to reading...certainly inflection and meaning could be better communicated, leaving less room for misinterpretation of tone...worth experimenting with! Of course you note that I am not leaving a voice comment, it's only because I have a sleeping boy I don't want to wake! Alex
Thanks Thomas
Interesting how your thread has attracted comments beyond Alex and mine from this course!
I think VoiceThread will be a really powerful tool for self paced programming in that knowledge on an issue can be aggregated over time. Also useful in Graduate courses where many students bring well informed experience and insight to issues. Now if only it was Open Source and worked properly using Firefox on my Mac - I had to use safari to login in.
Great work exposing us to the technology and creating a useful issue to collaboratively ponder!
