I finally completed my last assignment and just received my final mark back today. I have done consistently throughout this course and the mark I received for the final assignment was within the range I was expecting. Perhaps I could have spent a little more time on this assignment and corrected some of the minor grammatical errors, but due to my time constraints I had to get it in as soon as possible. After reviewing my assignment, I noticed I still tend to use “that” a little too frequently in my academic writing. This is something I will keep in mind for future writing assignments.
For this assignment, I choose to write about a topic related to earthquakes and focus on the effects of an earthquake. I took a physical geology course through Athabasca a few years ago and I found that background knowledge helped me quite a bit for this assignment. I took amore general approach to exploring the effects of earthquakes and perhaps I could have focused on a few more specific examples and that could have improved my essay.
Generally, I did enjoy writing this assignment and like many of the other assignments I wish that I didn’t have to go through this course so quickly. However, I am glad that I was able to complete everything on time, learn more about different writing styles and sharpen my academic writing skills.

Rachel,
To write about something we don't know much about to begin with is always a challenge. It is usually easier to write about what we know. I've learned a lot more about many topics reading student essays. Since this is the last one, congratulations on finishing the course.
