Interesting! Wikipedia is a big place and sometimes articles don't appear under what might seem the most obvious title. It might be worth linking it with related articles such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_social_network, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_community, and of course http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MoSoSo (which is a popular term for such things)

I wish it were quite as wonderful an idea. Folksonomies have some issues - accuracy, context-sensitivity, synonymy, homonymy and ambiguity raise many awkward problems which have interested me for many years now: I built my first folksonomic system in 1998, my first tag cloud in 1999, and I continue to do so. I have a few ideas about how to improve things - e.g. see http://editlib.org/p/30195 (should be accessible via the AU online library).
Important to note that 'tagging;' is not a synonym for 'folksonomy'. A folksonomy is typically built using tags, but the tagging behaviour is what enables us to build that folksonomy, not the thing itself. A folksonomy is any bottom-up taxonomy based on the crowd's classifications of things, rather than using an expert's or group of experts' schema.
In light of my work in the K-12 world I have been pondering the efficacy of using aspects of online gaming to engage secondary students. We have had significant success with Elgg for elementary and middle school children and are considering Elgg/Mahara for secondary school. I have thought that openSim could be a platform which would fit our concept of a moderated, safe and secure environment to facilitate project-based learning in the context of personalized learning. I would be interested to know what others felt, particularly those involved in education.

You might also consider Open Wonderland - it has some benefits inasmuch as it comes out of a more formal organisational background, mainly in companies and universities rather than the general purpose Second Life space - it has somewhat better support for things like presentations and formal meetings, a little better on access rights. On the other hand, apart from the clever things it does with audio, especially its phone integration, it feels even clunkier and more primitive, and doesn't have such rich constructionist-oriented tools: less easy to participate in building the space.

This is indeed a very real risk. It can also happen to those who tire online services with their email that is recyclable. Many online services use your email address as your unique identifier. This poses a big risk in situation where your primary email linked to an expirable domain address, say, admin@dicksonlam.com. If my www.dicksonlam.com domain expires and someone else picks it up, they will have access to my other online services simply by requesting “Forgot Password” providing that they know about my online activities. I trust that cloud email services such as Hotmail and gmail will never recycle email addresses?
