This link is for my final e-portfolio presentation for the degree of Master in Distance Education (MDE) at Athabasca University.
The presentation is organized based on my acquired MDE competencies in accordance with the recommendations of Dr. Susan Moisey, an expert in e-portfolio making. The MDE competencies consist of six core areas: 1) Problem solving, analysis, and decision making, 2) Instructional design and development, 3) Communication technologies and networking, 4) Communication and interpersonal skills, 5) Research, and 6) Management, organization, and leadership. The presentation thus follows this order as its organization framework, covering one or more competency areas to be demonstrated by one or two course work pieces, followed by a description, consisting of 300 to 500 words, with particular reference to parts, such as specific page numbers and lines, in each work that corresponds to the required MDE competencies whenever possible.
I started to take MDE courses in Winter 2006. After completing two courses, I registered in the Graduate Diploma in Distance Education and Technology (GDDET) program, which I completed in Fall 2007 by taking one course per term. Later, I registered in the MDE program in Winter 2008, which I expect to complete in Fall 2009 by taking approximately one course per term.
Specifically, I took MDDE 601 (Introduction to Distance Education and Training) in Winter 2006; 603 (Foundations of Instructional Design: Systems Analysis and Learning Theory) in Spring 2006; 604 (Instructional Design in Distance Education) in Fall 2006; 621 (Online Teaching in Distance Education and Training) in Winter 2007; 650 (Tutoring and Student Support in Distance Education and Training) in Spring 2007; 620 (Advanced Technology for Distance Education and Training) in Fall 2007; 602 (Research Methods in Distance Education) in Winter 2008; 605 (Planning and Management in Distance Education and Training) in Spring 2008; 701 (Advanced Research Methods) in Fall 2008; 690 (Independent Study with Terry Anderson) in Winter 2009; and 691 (Independent Study with Terry Anderson) in Spring/Summer 2009. I expect to graduate in the fall/winter season this year.
