The uploaded files are from Assignment 2 of MDDE 605: Planning and Management in DE and Training. I had a modest grade in this course in MDE, but I value the course a lot because I learned much about management and administration in DE from this subject.
We had an assignment which required making a business plan in DE, thus I negotiated with the course tutor for me to write a plan in the educational sector. The plan involves creating a network that links the DE English learning programs offered by overseas universities to those provided by Japanese universities. The objective is to provide Japanese students adequate preparation for advanced-level English that can help them in their areas of specialization in the future.
In this paper, I first discuss the necessity of worldwide networking (competency 6.1), expected organization and management system (6.2), supporting technologies (6.3), and marketing strategies. I then calculated the cost plan (through a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow) for the initial three years using Excel (6.4). I developed the program in such a manner that if there is a change in one figure in one cell, there is an automatic recalculation of all other relevant figures on the entire sheet. The cost plan afforded me a special challenge because I had to read books in accounting and in the process, fully grasped the rationale of their “trinity,” which I consider truly amazing.
It is fortunate that the accounting system of Japan has a lot in common with that of the US because it is the standard practice for many competent Japanese accountants to obtain their certifications from the US. In relation to this, our course tutor mentioned that countries all over the world have varying accounting systems that are not easy to follow, thus causing great difficulty for international students when completing this assignment.
