Development – each stage of the e-learning instructional system will be developed as follow:
§ Stage 1 (web-site design) – Camtasia Studio 5.0 for Windows will be used as the screen-capture software to produce a series of videos for each of the four levels of development with audio commentaries to be provided by the author. Initially the videos will be in Windows Media Video (.wmv) format for editing in Windows Movie Maker. Thereafter they will be converted into Flash (.flv) format to be embedded into web-pages for hosting on UniSIM’s Blackboard LMS system.
§ Stage 2 (database development) – the development method will be similar to Stage 1. In fact a prototype system of videos in Windows Media Video (.wmv) format has already been developed by the author. These will be edited in Windows Movie Maker and converted into Flash (.flv) videos for Blackboard LMS hosting.
§ Stage 3 (presentation skills) – all the video resources are already available. The videos for Level 2 & 3 are accessible on YouTube while the videos for Level 1 have been produced in Windows Movie Video (.wmv) format when the author invited groups of students from past cohorts to present their websites in front of the video camera (i.e. their presentations were recorded on video).
§ A prototype system will be developed first to identify and bug-fix the various technical and display problems.
§ Microsoft Expression Web 3.0 will be used as the tool to develop the e-learning instructional system (because this is the course’ adopted web-authoring tool).
